Since arriving here we haven't really done a whole lot. There are all sorts of trips you can take into the mountains and surrounding area but somehow the temperature lulls you into a more sedentary way of life. Feeling a little lazy, we decided to sign ourselves up for something a bit productive. Cooking classes.
Incredibly touristy, but THE thing to do in Chiang Mai, there are classes advertised on every corner. Despite low expectations, we actually learned a lot, had a good time and of course ate way too much.
We started with a trip to the market before getting down to cooking.
Our menu for the day consisted of veggie fried rice, spring rolls, papaya salad, Chiang Mai style curry noodles and deep fried bananas. Sadly we only got a picture of the first dish and they just got better as the day went on.
The secret ingredient - oyster sauce!
Our class (members from Norway, Toronto, Hungary, and Denmark).
Scott pounds up some papaya salad.
Our lovely instructor.
Taking a nap between courses.
You can see more pictures of our class on the Baan Thai Cooking School website. They have not posted our class yet, but check back. We took the class on the 18th of April, so you will need to select that date from the sidebar.
