KTV - Karaoke China Style

Karaoke is a social institution in China - everybody does it. So after our farwell dinner with school staff ( yes school is over and we are officially on holidays - woohoo!) when some of the teaching assistants invited us to KTV, we had to go. Can't leave China without the KTV experience. Take a look.

Farewell Dinner:

Rainy Walk to KTV:

Lynsey showing off her new umbrella

Time for Some Karaoke!

The Venue:
Each group has their own private room with a waitress standing outside.
It was a shiny atmosphere. Very very shiny.

The Singers:

The fabulous Ms. Maria

Rabaka Ridinger pulls out a few moves.

George and Lynsey crooning to Patsy Cline

Lily and Annie teach us how its really done with some Chinese pop

It was all in all a very fun night. Though looking around the room I did notice that some of us were more excited
Sandra
than others....

Not gettin amongst it Helen?

By the way, the person singing on the left is my TA Ellen - one fantastic teaching assistant! It's going to be a tough transition getting back to teaching in Canada without someone around to read my mind. And to top it all off, she's also got a lovely voice.

Oh dear - I've done it again. I've posted without including any pictures to prove we were actually there. We tend to spend most of our time behind the camera. Sorry about that. Here I am demonstrating the effects of humidity on fine hair.

This is Lara with me. She teaches art and is really very nice despite her best attempts to look scary.

And here is Scott, hiding in a corner.

So there you go. We were there.
