Our summer holidays started off with a bang this year as we arrived on Vancouver Island and went straight into a kayak trip. This is an annual family event and was a good time despite us being rather jet lagged.

This year we went up to Telegraph Cove in the hopes of spotting some orca whales. There are resident pods of whales in the area but sadly we didn't spot any on our trip. We did however see some playful dolphins, a couple seals, bald eagles, and hundreds of little jumping fish. Our trip this year included some of the Ibsen clan (good family friends) so it was quite a crowd with 13 people and 9 kayaks in all.

(this is a bit of an indecent photo, with some of us looking half naked, but I assure you that they are clothed on the bottom half, under the spray skirts...well not that I actually checked...)





Here is a video clip for you. Nice thing about a double kayak is that one person can do things like take videos and eat chocolate while the other keeps paddling. Hee hee.
