House of Praise

My first home in India was a home for girls that have been abandoned by their families. My parents worked here for a year (just in case you were wondering if I had been abandoned).

We were greeted with many smiles, a welcome song, and beautiful flower garlands placed around our necks. Highlights were:

singing in the evenings,

eating raji gunji for breakfast (such a familiar taste!)

spending time with the girls,

making chappatis for a crowd,

and playing pingpong.

I lived here as an infant, but visited many many times in the first five years of my life. Joyce and Sudarshin (who run the home) accepted us like family and a few of the girls from my day were still there and remembered me well- even my birthday.
